Christmas Shopping For My Kiddo Is Pretty Easy

Being that I like to put alot of thought into the gifts I choose for my loved ones at Christmas, I feel pretty confident when it comes to the things I pick out for my son. Depending on what type of child you are buying for, the type of gifts they would enjoy will vary greatly. Consider their likes, dislikes, and what they like to do with their free time and go from there. My son likes anything science related, he loves to learn, loves math, video games, reading, arts & crafts and his computer. He also loves to build and create things. Yes, my son is a nerd. I love my little nerd, though, so don’t hate. Keeping all that in mind I like to pick out gifts that will not only be alot of fun for him but that will stimulate his mind as well. I do like to pick out things that he will simply have fun with, though. Kids gotta have their fun, you know.

I can’t really say what I’ve bought him, because he might actually read this and I don’t want to give anything away. But I find that Amazon.Com has tons of cool science related toys and gifts. Last year I picked out a microscope and some test tube experiments off of Amazon for a really good price. Other places I like to shop are Hasbro.Com (nerf dart guns ftw) and Discovery Channel Store. There are tons of great educational, yet fun toys to be found there. Also, you can’t go wrong with stuff like K’nex and Legos, depending on how old your kid is of course. My son loves both of those and spends alot of time playing with his K’nex and Lego sets.

For good measure, I throw in a few pairs of pajamas and stuff like that under the tree, as well as a couple of books. I sometimes go check out Hobby Lobby to see what kind of crafty things they have on sale. Eric’s really into painting and drawing and loves to spend hours exploring his creative side. I guess I’m lucky. My son is pretty well rounded and actually extremely easy to shop for. :)

Board Games For Kids

Eric and I just got done playing a game of Scrabble Jr. He’s had that game since he was 4 years old, and honestly I think he’s almost ready to start playing regular scrabble. In scrabble Jr there are already words on the board and you have to place the corresponding letters on the board to spell out the words with your tiles. The way it works is each person is allowed to play 2 of their letter tiles at a time. You must start out by playing the first letter of 2 different words or the 1st and 2nd letter of the same word, then the next person does the same and you place the letters on the board in order. The person who completes a word (by putting the last letter of the word in place) gets a little token. Whoever has the most tokens at the end of the game is the winner. It’s really easy, but it’s also fun and sort of a challenge still. Pretty soon, though, I’ll be either selling that game or donating it and getting regular scrabble.

Since I’m on the subject of board games.. There’s something that really bugs me about certain games. It’s like ok.. I bought battleship. Then they came out with electronic battleship, then some other version of the electronic battleship. I saw a new version of the game “Sorry!” the other day at Target, too. It’s called Sorry Sliders and it’s got little balls in the bottom of the game pieces so they “slide” on the board. Hello?!?!? How stupid. I mean seriously, it’s just more of the same crap that I already spent my money on but since it’s “new” of course kids have to have it. Whatever.

Your Amazon.Com Order Has Shipped!

I did some online Christmas shopping a couple of days ago, and some of the kidd’s Christmas gifts are on their way! I’m relieved to have gotten some of it done. I’m usually finished by now but I’ve just been preoccupied I guess. I haven’t been “into” the holidays this year like I usually am. I’m pretty sure alot of that has to do with some personal issues that I’m going through right now. I don’t want to elaborate on that right now, though. Anyway, I have several things still that I am going to get him, all of which I should be able to pick up at Toys R Us. It shouldn’t be too hard, because I know my kid pretty well and I know what he likes and doesn’t like. I also don’t believe in getting a ton of senseless gifts just for the simple fact of “having alot of presents”. I put alot of thought into each and every item that I choose for my son, that way none of his gifts ever go “untouched”.

Right now he’s really into Lego Star Wars stuff, and it seems that every other boy around his age is also because that stuff is kinda hard to find at the moment. I did manage to get him some of the things that were on his Christmas list, and hopefully I’ll be able to find a few more things that he really wants. I’m not going to get him every single thing on his list though, that would be absurd. My son is spoiled, but he’s not THAT spoiled. LOL
