He’s A Big Boy Now

My son made a promise to me that when he turned 9, he would start sleeping in his own bed. He has kept true to his word. Yes, that means up until now my son has slept in my bed. Some people probably think that’s really weird. I, myself, would have thought it weird years ago before I had my own child, but your outlook on things changes when you become a parent. I’m not saying that him sleeping with me was exactly the right way, but it was our way. He’d been sleeping with me since birth. When he was first born, it was obviously my problem. I had OCD and kept getting up at night to check on him so my mom bought me this bassinet with a removable base. I would place the bassinet top on my bed and let him sleep in it. Once he got too big for the bassinet I bought this pillow thing for babies so that they do not roll, and he used that and slept next to me. As years progressed, he became accustomed to it, and it stayed that way. But now that he’s older, it’s time he starts sleeping in his own bed and gaining a little bit of independence. True to his word, like I said, he’s been sleeping in his bed every night. It helps that my mom bought him this night light thing for his birthday. :)

Ghostbusters!

My child is obsessed with The Ghostbusters. All he basically wants to do with his time is watch Ghostbusters. He even took his Ghostbusters DVD to his friends house this afternoon so that they could watch it there. This weekend he’s going to my mom’s and I asked him if he wanted to go to Grandma’s house and he goes “Can I bring my Ghostbusters movie?” LOL

I mean when I picked it out for him for his birthday, I knew he’d like it. I remember when I first saw Ghostbusters, I thought it was the best movie ever. His favorite gamecube game is Luigi’s Mansion, which is kinda like Ghostbusters. Luigi goes around this haunted mansion with this vacuum and sucks up ghosts. I mean I guess there are worse things he could be obsessed with than the Ghostbusters movie, right?

The Houston Zoo

Eric just got home from school and his field trip to the Houston Zoo. He took some cute pictures, but alot of them turned out too small because he zoomed in. There’s one picture of a lion that I thought was adorable on the phone, but when I uploaded it, it was too small. The lion was laying on his back with his legs up in the air and looked like he was waiting for someone to come along and rub his belly! I wouldn’t ever rub a lion’s belly, though.

Anyway, here’s a picture of a diamondback rattlesnake. This is kind of scary, I’m not sure if the snake is really huge or if Eric was really close to it.

This is a picture he took of some giraffes. I thought the picture came out really good, and giraffes are one of my favorite animals so I wanted to post this particular picture.

And this is a komodo dragon. This was eric’s favorite creature to see at the zoo. He couldn’t stop talking about it, and was super excited because he actually got to pet it!

Anyway, there are other pictures, but it takes time to upload each one from my phone, so I just picked out a few of the best ones. I love the zoo.
