Being a single mom, I know how important saving money can be. I have several domains registered with GoDaddy, so when someone offers me the opportunity to win a GoDaddy gift card and save myself some money, I’m ALL for it.
This website, www.runtslife.com is currently running a 5 week long contest. For the next five weeks, you can win a $15 Godaddy E-Gift Card. The winner each week will be randomly selected on Sunday evening (of each week) around 8 pm GMT. For anyone who uses GoDaddy as their registrar, they know how awesome GoDaddy is and what a great prize this is. You can use this e-gift card to make any type of purchase through GoDaddy.Com. There are several ways in which to be entered into this contest and here they are:
1. Comment on any post on runtslife.com (1 entry each)
2. Digg this post (1 entry)
3. Stumble this entry (1 entry)

My son has a new favorite website. Since he’s not been allowed to watch youtube.com very much he’s been into this website called Howcast. This site is basically a how-to website for nearly anything you can think of. I have to keep an eye on what he learns here, because some of this stuff I’d rather him not know LOL. His favorite category is the Crafts & Hobbies section, He’s been making all kinds of Origami stuff. One of the coolest things is the Origami Inflatable Bunny. It takes some practice and patience to get it right, but he did an awesome job. Maybe later I can convince him to make another one and I’ll take a picture.

My kiddo really loves Youtube. I don’t mind him watching it a little bit as long as I’m able to closely monitor what he’s watching, but I think he’s been “youtubing” just a little too much. I’m going to put a limit on how long he can spend online and in particular how long he can watch youtube. I’m really not happy with youtube anyway. I have it set so that he can’t view certain stuff, but sometimes things get passed me. He basically only watches videos related to things like Legend Of Zelda, and stuff like that. That’s been his favorite lately, anyway. In particular there’s this one group of videos created by one guy and basically all he does is record himself playing Zelda and then add a narrative to it. The problem is, some of the things he says are things I don’t really think my son needs to be hearing. It’s hard because I have to explain to Eric that the things the guy says are inappropriate, but then he is curious as to why they are inappropriate. He’s 8 years old, but he’s still pretty naive about stuff like that and that’s the way I want to keep him. I don’t want him to be overly “sheltered” but I don’t want him to be knowledgeable of certain things just yet. I’d like to keep him innocent for as long as I possibly can.
Anyway, with that in mind, I’m going to have a talk with the boyfriend tonight about getting him some more educational software. He’s had some before but basically he’s mastered it, and needs more challenging stuff. I’m glad that he’s computer literate, and I’m also glad that he’s able to type and maneuver about online with ease, but I’d like him to use his computer for things that will help him increase his brain power and thought processes, and not for youtube.

Well today is the last day of Eric’s little summer day camp thing. He loved it. I’m definitely going to enroll him next year. He’s got a children’s cooking class next month and a science thing, too.. and then after that I really don’t know. I am trying to figure out what to do with him to keep him busy for the summer. I’m going to get him into swimming lessons, and I’m going to purchase him an I.D for the local community center. Our community center is really nice and well maintained, and it’s overall a great place for kids to hang out. It’s got a game room and a skate park. I used to go there when I was a kid, but they’ve made tons of upgrades.
Anyway, I’ve got to come up with some more stuff to keep him occupied this summer. Otherwise, with the heat and all, he’ll probably just want to hang out inside and play video games and look at star wars crap on youtube.

This coming weekend I’m sending the kiddo to my mom’s house. He’s got a 3 day weekend because of Memorial Day, and I’m taking full advantage of that. I adore my little man, but even the best moms in the world need a break every now and then. Not that I’m the best, or even close, lol. Anyway, I can’t believe school year is so close to being over. It seems like it flew by. I also can’t believe my baby is going to 3rd grade next year. It’s crazy. I still remember the day he started kindergarten. He was so excited, but I cried my eyes out. I had considered home schooling him at first, and although I might have enjoyed it, I think he benefits from being around kids his own age. The one thing about being homeschooled is missing out on social interaction, which in all honesty could be detrimental to a child’s development. I’m not knocking you homeschooling moms out there. It’s just a personal belief.
It’s been so hot out that Eric hasn’t wanted to spend much time outside. He’s out riding his bike with his little friends right now, but it’s after 7, so the sun isn’t quite as high in the sky and it’s not as hot out there. It’s been getting over 100 everyday and I’m hating it. I just don’t want him spending all of his time indoors, not getting any exercise. Thankfully he will be taking swimming lessons this summer. That reminds me, I have to register him for that next week.
He’s been asking me if he can have a livejournal account or if I can set him up a type of “online journal”. I’m not sure how I feel about that, but he says that they have little journals that they update during computer lab. I’ll have to give it some thought.
