Eric’s Back From Grandma’s And Other Stuff

Eric’s home from my mom’s now. I went and picked him up on Sunday. He had a fun time over there and on Sunday at church he made my step-dad a father’s day gift. It was a really cute little container they made with peanuts in it, lol. Anyway, he went to VBS today and had a great time. He really liked it. It’s not at our regular church though, it’s a different one cause the regular church had their VBS last week and he wanted to go to my mom’s.

So anyway, I decided that this year instead of going out and buying Eric shorts and stuff for the summer that I would just have my mom turn his pants into shorts. The reason for this is because he has grown a few inches and the pants were becoming too short anyway. So this way I saved about $75-$125 on summer clothing. I really don’t know why I didn’t do that every summer previously.

My mom’s good with a sewing machine. I, on the other hand am just mediocre. She’s much better at everything than I am but I guess that just comes with old age. ;)

When we go to and from my mom’s house we always pass this church with a giant cross. Well last night in the dark it looked so pretty that Eric took a picture of it with my phone. It’s so weird, it’s like 2 stories high.

If you live in the Houston area, it’s right off Beltway 8 West (The south part of the loop) right by 45 heading towards 288. Anyway, it’s pretty, isn’t it?

Summer Traveling

So, after giving it quite a lot of thought, I’ve decided that this summer I’m definitely doing some traveling. I’m not only going to take Eric somewhere nice that he’s never been, but I’m going to be going on a road trip. It’s ridiculous for me to sit around all summer being depressed and doing nothing. So, around the end of July I’m sending Eric to Corpus to visit his father’s side of the family and I’m going to visit a few friends and get my mind off of things. I’ve been looking into exactly how much the traveling is going to cost and I’ve also looked at travel insurance, because although traveling can be fun it can also become expensive and kind of scary if something happens while your far from home. I mean anything could happen, so I’ve got to consider all my options, especially if I’m going to be traveling alone.

Just.. Blah

Eric called yesterday from my mom’s house to tell me that she was wrong about when VBS starts. She had told me it was Monday, but it turns out that it is not until July 13. It kind of annoys me because I could have had him home this week or going to VBS at our regular church. Their VBS is this week and since my mom had said that theirs was this week also I gave him the choice. He chose to go to my mom’s house. Anyway, whatever. They’re taking him fishing this week and he’s looking forward to it, so at least that’s something.

My mom said that she and my two aunts have been concerned about me since seeing me this past week. I guess she thinks I’m losing too much weight or getting too thin or whatever. I don’t really get the big deal. I’m not like anorexic or abusing any type of weight loss pills, I just simply haven’t much of an appetite lately. This whole thing will pass, I’m just going through a “time” right now and I wish they’d get off me about it. I’m not unhealthy or anything.

I’m going to take the time that Eric is at my mom’s house to plan the rest of our summer. I’ve also decided to apply for some financial aid and start school in the Fall. We’ll see how that all works out.
