Tomorrow I’ve decided that Eric and I are going to get his room cleaned (again). I’m just tired of looking at it to be honest. I mean he has all this nice stuff and a problem keeping up with it. I want to get an Xbox 360, but if he can’t even keep his own room clean I won’t be letting him play it. It’s a pricey thing for him to just not take care of. I mean he already has his own computer, a LCD HDTV, video camera, gaming consoles, and just about every toy you can think of for a 9 year old boy and he can’t keep his room picked up. It’s frustrating and annoying to me. If he wants nice things he should be able to take care of them, but whatever. So yea, that’s what I’m probably doing with my Sunday.

I’ve got to get my vehicle inspected by the end of this month. It’s just another one of those things that come along with being a responsible adult. I’m not looking forward to it for the simple fact that they always start looking for other things wrong. The minute I see them driving my car on to one of those automotive lifts I start to get worried. I guess it’s all part of how the game is played. Everyone needs money so of course if they can find a reason to charge you for something or get some extra work out of it they will. Such is life.

Over spring break (last week) Eric went to my mom’s house. They took him fishing and to the beach as well as dirt bike riding. I’m not overly fond of dirt bike riding, but he had fun. On Sunday morning, the day I was supposed to pick him up, they called and said that a friend had given them some rodeo tickets and wanted to know if Eric could go. I agreed to let him go, and so my son went to his first rodeo/concert at 9 years old. He saw ZZTop play, which was pretty cool. They are really good live.
This past week has been kind of annoying for the simple fact that he seems to be really slacking lately. I know I’m a pretty demanding parent and I expect alot from him. I try not to be too hard on him but lately I don’t know what’s gotten into him. I guess I’ve just been too leniant with him.
It started I guess when his friend’s mom asked me if I’d mind Eric and Nicholas walking together to the bus instead of me driving Eric. I agreed, because I don’t mind him walking I just don’t want him walking alone. So it began. Monday went okay, but Tuesday Eric and Nicholas were playing around on the way to school and Eric sat his lunch down somewhere and left it. Wednesday he forgot his backpack at home because he was joking around with Nicholas and forgot what was going on. Thursday, left his lunch at home because he was anxious to get out the door with his friend. Friday they dawdled and played around on the way to the bus and missed it. I ended up having to drive them. I’m beginning to think that this whole walking to the bus thing is a bad idea. I’m giving it one more week and if things don’t improve then it’s back to him being driven.
