Another of Eric’s Christmas gifts that I ordered online arrived today. I’m getting closer and closer to being finished Christmas shopping. Usually I’m done way before this, so it’s kinda new to me being behind and all, but at least it’s getting done.
Hopefully I’m feeling well enough to go to my mom’s on Thanksgiving. I have to pick up Eric anyway, but if I’m not feeling better by then I can always pick him up Sunday. I’m sure he’s having fun and won’t mind staying a little longer, but he has to be back by Sunday because Monday he has school.
I will mind if I have to miss another Thanksgiving to being sick. It’s kind of lonely, sitting all by yourself on Thanksgiving. I can’t imagine having to do that every year. Anyway, sorry for the sporadic post, these antibiotics have me feeling kind of funny. I better go lay back down, now.

My kiddo is having so much fun at my mom’s this week. Because they live out in the country, they can do fun stuff like make bonfires and things we can’t do in the city. So when it gets cold out my parents set up a big fire in their back yard. Eric called me to tell me that he got to roast hot dogs and marshmallows on the fire.
He also told me that his grandma is teaching him how to use her sewing machine. He sounded so proud of himself when he was telling me that he got to do the hem on something. He also said that my stepdad told him that guys who sew are “gay”. But Eric said “Grandpa is stupid and doesn’t know what he’s talking about.” I’m going to have a little talk with my step-dad again about the things he says to my son and if he doesn’t grow up and stop teaching him stuff like that, they won’t be seeing him anymore.
That’s a whole different blog entry in itself though. I could go on for days about how childish, racist and irresponsible my mother’s so-called husband is. I guess some people don’t have the capacity to realize that there are just some things you don’t need to say to a child.
