My son made a promise to me that when he turned 9, he would start sleeping in his own bed. He has kept true to his word. Yes, that means up until now my son has slept in my bed. Some people probably think that’s really weird. I, myself, would have thought it weird years ago before I had my own child, but your outlook on things changes when you become a parent. I’m not saying that him sleeping with me was exactly the right way, but it was our way. He’d been sleeping with me since birth. When he was first born, it was obviously my problem. I had OCD and kept getting up at night to check on him so my mom bought me this bassinet with a removable base. I would place the bassinet top on my bed and let him sleep in it. Once he got too big for the bassinet I bought this pillow thing for babies so that they do not roll, and he used that and slept next to me. As years progressed, he became accustomed to it, and it stayed that way. But now that he’s older, it’s time he starts sleeping in his own bed and gaining a little bit of independence. True to his word, like I said, he’s been sleeping in his bed every night. It helps that my mom bought him this night light thing for his birthday.

Aww how cute that he’s slept with you every night until he turned 9. But it’s great that he made a deal with you and kept it. It’s hard to change something like that.
