Today is Eric’s 9th birthday. We didn’t do a whole lot because his party is on Saturday, but I did let him open one of the smaller gifts I got him. It wasn’t anything overly big, but he loved it. I guess that just shows how well I know my kiddo, lol. It was a small Lego Star Wars set, and he has been playing with it since he got home from school. He wanted t-bone for dinner tonight, as his “birthday dinner” so we went and picked up a fat t-bone from the grocery store and some stuff for baked potatoes. He loves that stuff.
I can’t believe my son is already 9 years old. I can still remember very vividly the first time I saw him, held him, and looked into his eyes. He was and still is so beautiful. I sometimes can’t believe I’m so blessed. I know I complain sometimes about certain things, but I think everyone complains sometimes. It’s just in our nature, isn’t it? I mean just seeing him smile and making him happy is the highlight of my day. And that’s all that I need. I live for that smile.
This morning when he got out of the car and ran to the bus, like every other morning, I just watched him carrying his little lunch bag and heading off to school and it made me smile. I couldn’t help think to myself how proud I am of him. He’s growing up to be a really wonderful young man and I love watching him grow. I thank God for blessing me with Eric every day of my life.

I feel that way about my oldest nephew, I can’t believe he’s 10…. I remember when he was first born and so small and helpless. Children are an amazing thing. Sometimes I can’t believe I was one!
Aww Happy 9 years to your kiddo! That’s cute that you let him open a “smaller” gift on his actual birthday. He’s a lucky kid to have a momma who gets him several gifts and takes the time to throw him a birthday party even though money is tight.
