I asked my son to write up his Christmas list this year. Usually I have a pretty good idea of what he wants, and by this time I already have all of my shopping done. I do most of my shopping online so it’s not too much hassle. Anyway, at the top of his Christmas list this year is, of course, a Nintendo Wii. It’s probably the most popular gaming console out there right now because it’s very family oriented. I have been kind of wanting to get a Wii for quite some time, especially since Nintendo put out the wii fit. I think it’s an awesome way to have fun and stay in shape, or get in shape if you are me. My son could stand to use it as well, and I think that he’d actually love it. What I like most about the Wii, from what I can see, are games like Mario Kart. That was my favorite game on the old Nintendo system I had. My only deal is basically my son is only 8 and I am just not certain that I want to spend that much money on a gift for him until he is a bit more responsible. Every couple of days I do a price comparison to see if perhaps it’s gone down in price, or what package deals are being offered. Sometimes the Wii console will come with a couple of games for a discount price.
Anyway, I have a pink Nintendo DS that my boyfriend bought me not too long ago and my son has been playing it more and more lately. He likes it because not only can he play regular Nintendo DS games but he can also play his GBA games on it as well. When I saw him playing his old Yoshi’s Island game on my cute little pink DS today, I got the idea that perhaps instead of a Wii for Christmas, I’ll get him his own Nintendo DS. It’s actually in my price range and he’d get lots of enjoyment out of it. Plus, we can play games with each other on it. He loves playing games with me. It’s an idea, I’ll just keep checking Savebuckets for price comparisons on the DS and the Wii. There’s still a little bit of time left before I have to decide.

Well, the kiddo has put a few expensive items on his Christmas list this year. One of them being a Nintendo Wii. At this point though, my parents owe me roughly $300 and I was planning on using that money for Christmas when they paid me back, but they’ve yet to do so. I’ll rant more about that later. Anyway, I basically explained to Eric that he probably won’t be getting such an expensive gift this year. I mean he’s barely going to be 9 in a few days and the Wii is like close to $400. I did want to get him one, but at this point it just doesn’t seem like a good idea. I think I’ll be waiting until he’s a bit more responsible to spend so much on a video game system. As it is, he doesn’t even want to ever pick up after himself or do anything around the house or even clean his room. How can I possibly expect him to take care of such an expensive toy? Anyway, he also said he wants a Nintendo DS and a video camera. Those items are doable, but I’m not saying whether or not he’s getting either or both simply for the fact that he may be snooping around on here. I kind of miss the days when he was really little and couldn’t read! LOL. I’m just kidding about that. (Maybe.)

I heard in the news yesterday that an 8 year old Arizona boy was charged with double premeditated murder. He allegedly shot and killed his father and his father’s friend, a man who was renting a home in the father’s house. I’m not sure exactly what the circumstances are surrounding the killing, but apparently the child has confessed to the murders. Officials are trying to have the child tried as an adult at this time but hopefully the judge on the case does not grant the motion. The police chief of the small town the boy lived in with his father says that he believes the child may have been abused, but at this time they do not have any evidence of that. The only thing they do seem to know at this time is that the murders were not accidental. The judge ordered a psychological evaluation and the boy is currently with his mother whom did not have custody of the child at the time of the murders.
The thing that gets me most about this whole thing is that the boy is only 8 years old and actually (allegedly) planned out a double homicide. There must have been something crazy going on here, abuse or something. It’s pretty frightening to me, to know that an 8 year old is capable of this. It’s also frightening that they want him tried as an adult. There is no way that they can possibly get that motion to pass. I mean, I think the boy should be severely punished, but that’s only if this was some random act of violence. There may have been things going on behind the scenes that led to this horrendous crime. Either way, this child killed his own father and will have to live with that knowledge for the rest of his life.
