Wow @ My Kiddo

This evening while we were on our way to get dinner, my son started talking about the presidential hopefuls. Well, they are still currently hopefuls, right? Anyway, I was really surprised that he knew so much. Eric says if he was old enough to vote that he would vote for McCain and says he wants McCain to be our next president. Although I do not agree with him, I let him have his own opinions, and apparently he has based his opinions on facts that he has read about, seen on television and learned at school. Anyway, he taught me a thing or two, that’s for sure. For example I did not actually know that California had 55 electoral votes. For 8 years old, he’s pretty damn smart.

My son also told me that today all of the students got to go and do a mini vote in school. He said that he, of course, voted for John McCain and that McCain got 169 votes. Obama got well over 500 he said. He wasn’t thrilled, but if that’s any indication, then yay. :)

The Things You Find On Craigslist

I have this obsession with Craigslist. I don’t know why, I’ve only ever bought one thing off of Craigslist and that was my Ford Explorer Sport. The experience wasn’t a bad one, but I’m very wary of buying things off there. I can’t keep from looking all the time, though, just to see what people are selling or giving away. Tonight I was looking at the free section, where people give stuff away, and someone had actually listed home theater seating. There was even a picture, and it looked pretty nice. I don’t have a need for it, but I would have taken it and sold it. Too bad when I contacted the lady she said she already got rid of it. She stated in the listing she recently broke up with her long time live in boyfriend and was giving away all of his most prized possessions. This included everything in his home theater area. Sucks for him. Haha.

You Get What You Need

There are certain things that are important to me in life, and those things may not be as important to other people. The things I believe matter most may be stupid and insignificant to other people. For example, what matters to me most is providing for my child. Giving him a roof over his head, clothes to wear, food in his tummy. Money is important to me, but only because money is necessary to provide those things for my child. I don’t feel that I am a greedy person. As a matter of fact, I don’t care to ever be rich. Being rich is about as important to me as having home theater carpeting. (I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, so there’s absolutely no need.) I am not a greedy person, and I only want basically what I need. Life has taught me that you can’t always get what you want. But quoting the Rolling Stones further.. “If you try sometimes you just might find.. you get what you need.” Just something to think about.
