Girl With Down Syndrome Crowned Homecoming Queen

Typically, when you think of a homecoming queen, you think of the prettiest, most popular girl in the school. The blonde head cheerleader, for example. In one particular high school in Texas, however, this is not the case. Well, maybe I’m putting that wrong. The girl is popular, and she is beautiful, but she’s not the head cheerleader. Her name is Kristin Pass and she is an Eightteen year old senior at Aledo High School. She also has Down Syndrome. I guess to some people this probably doesn’t mean anything, but coming from the big sister of a mentally handicapped person, and seeing how most people treat other handicapped people this really hit home for me. I have seen my share of ugliness, the whispers, the stares and laughter. People can be cruel and ugly. It’s nice to see that in this day and age, and in a world as cold as the one in which we live, there are still some good people. Those people made Kristin Pass very, very happy.

That is so inspiring.

You know what else is inspiring? A coworker of mine was supposed to get married Sept 20 in Galveston, and of course that has been put off due to Ike. well on their planned wedding day, her and her fiance went down to Galveston to help clean up the place they were going to get married in. It’s just wow. Some people are really inspiring.

Thanks for posting this video, I probably would never have seen it without stumbling into your blog today. It’s very inspiring and beautiful to see. It gave me goosebumps; I had to watch it twice.
