Last month, a terrible hurricane blew through the city I live in. I was one of those people who chose to evacuate. So I reserved myself a hotel in another city for my son and I and off we went. AT first we stayed in a hotel room that had wireless internet, so I was able to get online with no problems even though it was horribly laggy. After a few days of staying in an overpriced hotel, however, and spending way too much money per night, I decided to find a weekly rate apartment. They also had free internet access, but it wasn’t wirless. So I had to go out and purchase a CAT5e cable to be able to get online. The thing cost $20, and what I’m wondering is now that I’m home, is it unethical of me to return the cable to Walmart? I mean honestly I have like 10 of these cables already and I don’t really need another one. I could use the $20 though. I’m just curious as to what other people would do if in the same situation?

As I’ve mentioned time and time again, saving money is of an utmost importance to me. I just have a hard time doing it. Like most women, I like to shop. I like new, pretty things. It just makes me feel good. Having no money, however, does not make me feel all that great. And of course, being a single parent, it is imperative that I learn to budget and save money because I have to make every penny count. With that in mind, I’ve started thinking alot more about budgeting and planning, and how I can learn to budget my money so that I can make my dollars go further. Just the other day I spent so much on groceries that it literally horrified me. I don’t go shopping with a list usually, though, and I think that might be the problem. I’ve also considered getting myself some help by way of a financial consultant or something. The only problem with that is that I’d be spending money to have someone show me how to save money, and that totally defeats the whole purpose doesn’t it? If any of my wonderful readers have any tips or ideas on how to budget and save, I’d love to hear them.
