He Loves To Read

I’ve said this time and time again, and I’m sticking with it. Reading is the key to learning, increasing your comprehension, and expanding your mind all while allowing your imagination to flourish. Yeah, I sound like a big nerd. Well, if I’m a nerd, then I’m proud to be a nerd. :)

Anyway, I bring this up again because my son told me the other day that he has the highest reading level in his grade. They did an accelerated readers test and although his level is extremely high, they will only allow him to check out books from the library that are up to 5.7. (7th month of 5th grade) This is because of the subject matter, and the fact that he’s only 8, but I’m glad he’s at least being challenged a little bit.

Right now he’s reading Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone. It’s one of the HP books he hasn’t read yet. I’m not quite ready for him to read the newest one, because there is some subject matter that I don’t really think he needs to be reading just yet. But this one I don’t mind. He seems to be thoroughly enjoying it though, and enjoying being in his accelerated readers group. Yesterday when he wasn’t looking I snuck around the corner and snapped this picture of him reading. :P

What a cute little bookworm. Reading is absolutely amazing. I sure wish I had more time for it.
