What’s Going On Around Here

Some lady locked her baby in her car yesterday. The fire department was called as well as the police. The lady, who was hispanic, started putting cardboard on her car to block out the sunlight and try to keep it from getting as hot, but the baby was still close to unconsciousness. The fire department and police finally got the baby out and they took the child to the hospital to make sure he or she was alright. Forgetting your purse in your car is one thing, locking your keys in your car (which obviously this woman did) is one thing, but forgetting your child? How does that happen? Honestly what the hell is going through someone’s mind that they totally forget their baby and leave him or her in the car? Hmph.

The day before yesterday there was a fire on the 2nd floor. The stove caught fire and the sprinkler system went off and flooded the apartment below it. Those people had to move out into another apartment. When they started moving everything out, my jaw dropped. These apartments are small one bedrooms that are rented weekly, and they had so much stuff. I wondered where they put it all. I mean they had like 2-3 truck loads of stuff. I know it’s not really my business but how in the world did they do that?!

It’s pretty sad what gets my attention these days. I am obviously really bored, and have nothing going on. If I hadn’t spent most of my money on this apartment I would probably like to take Eric to Six Flags, as it’s only about 5 minutes from here. But I just don’t have the money to blow, and who really knows how long fema takes to reimburse. I’m sure I’ll be waiting awhile.

I hate hurricane Ike, and I want to go home. :whines:

Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeons

When it comes to cosmetic surgery, many tidbits of advice get bandied around, and one of those is that it is imperative to find a surgeon who is board certified. But what does it mean, exactly, and why is it so important?

When a plastic surgeon is “board certified,” it means that he or she has undergone rigorous scrutiny by a certification committee—a certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery should be the bare minimum in the United States, and an additional certification from either the American Society of Plastic Surgeons or the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery is preferable. The path to qualification for this documentation is through having completed medical school, residency in surgery or a related field, and by completing a thorough regimen of tests and inspections by the boards in question. Only then may a surgeon successfully obtain “board certified” status.

But what does this mean for you? Quite simply, it means that the surgeon you are working with has the education, experience, and expertise needed to give you a top quality experience. With so many plastic surgeons operating in every city, finding a truly good match can seem like shooting in the dark, but when you narrow your search, it can make your choice much more clear. In addition to certification, you should also look for a plastic surgeon who is most in line with your aims and expectations for your procedure—don’t be afraid to assert your opinion and ask a lot of questions, and you will be sure to find a perfect match. A board certified cosmetic surgeon, of course, is usually the best trained to give you guidance and work alongside you toward a common goal for your impending procedure. Technical skill and expert guidance—what more could you ask for in a doctor? So if you find yourself feeling the pull of cosmetic surgery, be sure to look for the best of the best—ultimately, the person you benefit most will be yourself.

Akismet

How many wordpress users actually utilize akismet? I happen to love that plugin, myself. Today I logged into my wp admin panel for coveted.net and I see 64 spam comments. What I don’t understand is what do these people think they are getting out of leaving spam comments? Do they really make money off of it? Because it seems to me that most of them, if not all of them are caught by akismet or some other spam blocking program or plugin.

One of my other blogs actually has over 13 thousand spam comments that akismet has blocked in a little over a year’s time. That’s almost one thousand spam comments a month. I wonder if it has something to do with the domain name, because this website has been around alot longer and has just over 300 spam comments. It doesn’t make sense to me.

Anyway, I basically wanted to just say Thank you to akismet and the creators of the plugin. You’ve made my blogging experience so much more enjoyable. <3
