Well for anyone who was concerned or cares, we made it to a safer location. It took alot of driving, but it was definitely less than 2 years ago. We left early, and we beat the herd of last minute evacuees. You would think they’d have learned from the last big evacuation, but no. Anyway, it wasn’t too bad of a drive, my parents drove behind me. Now Eric and I are all checked into our cute little hotel room and we’re both so exhausted we’re about to pass out. I like this room, I got a really good deal off of it from hotels.com. It even has a little kitchen! What I like most about the kitchen is the stove is a counter top stove, like it’s built right into the counter. The counter itself is black marble. It’s really nice looking. Good thing, too, because I was kind of worried about what kind of place it would be considering the awesome deal I got on it.
Anyway, Hurricane Ike is currently a category 2 hurricane I believe, and from what they say it’s going to get even stronger. I’m kind of worried about my home, but I’m thankful that we are out of harm’s way and that we are together. I believe that’s more important than anything.

We’re riding it out here. Where did you evacuate to?
Well, I hope you guys stay safe. It’s getting pretty ugly in Galveston right now. I’m sure you know that though. We evacuated to Dallas. It’s not very far up, and we’ll definitely still get some bad weather, but it’s far enough up that we will be safe for the most part. We drove 6 hours to get here, normally a 4 hour drive.. and the last I heard it was taking 14 hours to drive here earlier.
