Last year I started letting Eric walk home from the bus stop. Previously I had been picking him up every day but after constant begging, I decided to give the walking home thing a shot. I would still drive him to the bus in the mornings, though. Anyway, this year.. I’ve noticed a bit of a change. Instead of wanting to walk home, he calls me on the way with some retarded excuse about why he can’t walk home. “My ankle hurts.” “I have a headache.” “I hurt my foot.” “My leg hurts.” The list goes on and on. I personally feel he needs the exercise. It’s only about an 8 minute walk, but it’s still exercise at least. So the past couple of days I’ve been playing his little excuse game. “My hands hurt, can’t drive.” “I’m doing the dishes.”

We got through hurricane Gustav without any real problems, and it didn’t even give my area any rain whatsoever. Now there’s Ike. Ike is a category 2 hurricane right now, but is supposed to strengthen as it gets closer, and supposedly it’s headed straight for us. I’m less than thrilled. Ike has already killed 80 people in the Carribean. We haven’t seen a big hurricane here in years, so like I’ve been saying for quite some time, we’re due for it. I went to the store this morning to get some bottled water and canned stuff as well as some other non perishables. If we are going to be stuck in a hurricane I’ve got to be prepared. I’ve also got to be prepared in case we have to head out of here. I’m so not looking forward to this. Good thing I have tons of candles and a battery operated can opener, though. Just in case.
