I absolutely love Steve Spangler, and so does my son. He spends alot of time on the Steve Spangler Science Website. As I’ve said before, one of his favorite subjects in school is science, and he aspires to be a scientist when he grows up. (yeah, awwwwee.) Anyway, as Steve Spangler says, it’s kind of hard to teach kids about germs because you can’t really see them. So now they’ve come up with giant germs, which are basically stuffed germ “animals” that resemble the germs themselves and I guess how they look under a microscope. They’re actually called GIANTmicrobes, and some of them are actually kind of cute. I’m not completely sure about that whole thing, but it’s a neat idea. They even have an H.I.V microbe. If you are interested in any of these you can pick them up at the Steve Spangler website or you can visit www.giantmicrobes.com.
Anyway, along with the GIANTmicrobes toys, there are some other things that you can use to help teach your child about germs. One of these things is called GLO germ lotion and when it’s applied to your hands or any other item, and a black light is used the germs will all glow. You can rub it on your child’s hands early in the morning, it goes on and dries clear, and when the day is over, you can use a blacklight to show your child all of the different things he or she has touched and help teach the importance of washing their hands and also keeping things clean. Check out the video for more info, he explains it alot better than I do.

I want to make you aware of a new product called CleanGuard Mouthguard Sanitizer.
Moms are increasingly concerned about the germs and bacteria on thier kids’ mouthguards. It is a rare occasion that kids will wash thier mouth guard. This new product, using UV lights, will kill 99% of germs after ten minutes. A child can easily use the product-it will shut off automatically in ten minutes. Also, the mouth guard does not have to be removed from the helmet.
The product will retail for $19.99.
Woudl you like more information and a picture?
Sure I’d like more information and a picture.
Hey, I love that!
These people came up with good ideas. I want those too. Lol. Now I miss Science.
It’s nice that your child wants to be a scientist when he grows up! I hope he focuses on that and his dream would come true, especially now that the “germ” toys are there.
I think the idea is kind of nice, but a little weird. Anything to help kids learn is ok in my book, though. I never was a big fan of science, but my son adores it and that’s what’s gotten me interested over the last few years. You can buy an entire set of those GIANTmicrobes on the stevespanglerscience.com website for a little over 100 dollars. It seems like alot, but you get a ton of those things. lol
Wow! If only I had a lot of money then I’ll surely buy a set.
Oh well.
I was a fan of Science before but it just got complicated when I reached high school. :>
If you sign up for Steve Spangler’s Experiment of the Week, you get great experiments like that every week for FREE. I love it.

I have a giant microbe on my desk at work, it’s the cough. I want to get all of them to fill my desk up! They’re so damn cute!
YOU HAVE THE COUGH? That’s so cute!!
Gross! But that germ glo stuff is a really good idea. It can make children understand how important it is to wash their hands a lot.
