The Quest Continues…

Back To SchoolI’ve run into a snag in my school supply shopping, so the quest to find Eric’s school supplies is proving to be a way more difficult task than last year. I almost broke down today and bought the pre packaged thing, but I’m so close to being done, if I can only find the last few items. Plus the pre packaged thing is like $57. I guarantee there’s not more than $25 worth of stuff in there, but they feel they can rip you off because of convenience I guess. Whatever. I’m getting more frustrated by the minute. I actually went to Walmart today, and if anyone knows me they know that I despise that store. But I am getting desperate. I called the other Walmart stores in my area and even a few not so in my area to see if they had the folders I’m looking for, but no one seems to have them. Yes, I said folders. The only thing keeping me from being a successful back to school shopper is FOLDERS!! He needs plastic folders with pockets and brads and I simply cannot find them anywhere. Wait, that’s not quite true, I have found tons of orange and purple. But he only needs 1 purple one, I think that’s why there are so many purple ones still left. I’m really about to break down and just buy paper pocket folders.

Anyway, I’m keeping tabs on how much money I spend on school supplies only because I’m curious as to how much it actually costs to buy them separately versus buying them in the per packaged thing.

Thanks! I hope I get what I need too. To be honest I’m getting a little worried that I may not be able to find these folders. :(

That is just insane. I remember my primary school days when the race was on for school supplies. It musn’t been enough to send out a supply list with the final report card, but when we did go back to school the teachers sent home ANOTHER seperate classroom supply list. My mom was infuriated. Most of the items we bought FOR ME went into a pool of stuff for the CLASS to use. My mom didn’t like that much. Seeing how she had to skrimp and give her last to provide for me, while the whole rest of the class was mooching off of items that they didn’t have. SMH. Anyhow, she’s quite glad I’m all graduated from HS, and its over (for now). All i can tell you mom, is to keep your witts about it as much as possible; it really DOESNT last forever lol. You may be able to find some folders like that at Kmart or Office Depot. I know it sounds cheap but you can check out dollar places like The Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Family Dollar if you have any of those where you live. I hated those dang on folders. Even at the last minute, my Univeristy requested WHITE plastic pronged/pocket folders to put our dual-enrollment essays in. like..who cares what color they are? And who makes WHITE FOLDERS?! SMh. The things the school systems come up with i swear is just to pick the last God given nerve that we have left. Good luck on your search :) Your blog is lovely & I had fun reading it.

Hey thanks for the comment. Just to clarify, I’m the mom, lol. I’m the one doing the school shopping. I could always just break down and buy the stupid pre packaged stuff, but it’s $57 just for the package and I know I could get them for a great deal cheaper. I did even check the dollar store. It’s those damn plastic pronged folders that are holding me back!!!!

You know what’s ridiculous? that these days the schools are making students get SPECIFIC things. I mean really, is that necessary. Any folder would do, why does it need to be so specific? I don’t remember having lists like that when I was in school, I just picked out whatever I thought I needed.
