This Time Last Year…

This time last year I was moving because my apartment flooded due to a hurricane. This time 2 years ago I was getting ready to leave my home due to a hurricane. That was horrible. I had to drive all the way up to Duncan, Oklahoma and what normally would have taken six or seven hours turned into a 24 hour drive. There were so many people on the road. I finally found a hotel in oklahoma that wasn’t full, and Eric and I were finally able to relax and wait out the storm. I was a bit upset by the price of the hotel, it was rather expensive. Being in the situation I was in I didn’t really have time to search for any good hotel deals in the area. I would much rather prefer to plan my trips in advance and have a nice hotel lined up that I found and was able to reserve online. That’s so much easier. We ended up staying in an expensive, but nice, hotel for three days. Wouldn’t you know it, nothing happened at all. The hurricane didn’t even hit my area. Evacuating was kind of a waste of time, but since Katrina hit New Orleans and Mississippi everyone has been quite afraid of the effects of a strong hurricane.

The Quest Continues…

Back To SchoolI’ve run into a snag in my school supply shopping, so the quest to find Eric’s school supplies is proving to be a way more difficult task than last year. I almost broke down today and bought the pre packaged thing, but I’m so close to being done, if I can only find the last few items. Plus the pre packaged thing is like $57. I guarantee there’s not more than $25 worth of stuff in there, but they feel they can rip you off because of convenience I guess. Whatever. I’m getting more frustrated by the minute. I actually went to Walmart today, and if anyone knows me they know that I despise that store. But I am getting desperate. I called the other Walmart stores in my area and even a few not so in my area to see if they had the folders I’m looking for, but no one seems to have them. Yes, I said folders. The only thing keeping me from being a successful back to school shopper is FOLDERS!! He needs plastic folders with pockets and brads and I simply cannot find them anywhere. Wait, that’s not quite true, I have found tons of orange and purple. But he only needs 1 purple one, I think that’s why there are so many purple ones still left. I’m really about to break down and just buy paper pocket folders.

Anyway, I’m keeping tabs on how much money I spend on school supplies only because I’m curious as to how much it actually costs to buy them separately versus buying them in the per packaged thing.
