It seems my last post offended some people. I got a couple of pissed off comments and emails. Well, I did not write it with the intention to offend or piss anyone off. And no, I wasn’t attacking China. If those of you who got pissed off would actually take the time to read what I said, which I have re-read it a few times, you would be able to see that I was merely stating that I was bothered by the fact that they basically told a 7 year old girl that she was not pretty enough. I’m sorry, but that’s screwed up, no matter what the circumstances. As far as what one of my commenters said about America being the same way, I will have to disagree. Beauty Pageants can’t be compared to “Oh sorry honey, your voice is nice but you are ugly so you can’t be seen at the Olympics. Instead we’ve found a pretty girl to move her mouth while you sing.” In America, there would be lawsuits, protests, and straight up outrage if something like that happened. I seriously doubt anything like that would be allowed here. Furthermore, this is my blog, I can state my opinions and feelings as much as I want, and again, I didn’t intend to offend. I am sickened by the message that the Chinese government or whoever is responsible for what happened is sending to children all over China and the rest of the world. It’s disgusting, and if you are too blind, proud, or jaded to see that.. well that’s your problem.
Seriously? People attacked you for the post? Man, people need to get lives. It’s your opinion, on your blog, and it’s no one’s place to bitch you out if they disagree. Really though, you didn’t attack China or make it out like no other country would do that. What you did is show something that everyone is talking about on the radio and news and post your thoughts. GAH people need to get lives.
I know Julie, and the fact of the matter is I wasn’t attacking China as a country, I was just stating how I felt about it. I’m a mother. Of course something like this would offend anyone but especially a parent. We try so hard to raise our children to be good people and to be someone with self worth and respect for themselves. We preach about how we should be proud of who we are, and love ourselves, yet they want to tell this little 7 year old impressionable CHILD that she is simply NOT PRETTY ENOUGH??? The more I think about it, the angrier I get.
