Is China Really That Superficial???
A member of China’s Politburo decided that the 7 year old girl who sang “Ode to the Motherland” for the Olympics opening ceremonies was not good looking enough for the Olympics and requested for a better looking girl to lip-sync the song. He said he wanted the voice and the face to “match”. Now, I understand them wanting everything to be perfect and all, but what kind of message is that sending to people, especially the children? Can you imagine how that little girl felt when they said “Hey, sorry but you’re too ugly for the Olympics opening ceremonies, we are replacing you with a pretty girl. But you still have to sing.” I’m disgusted with China at this moment. The sad thing is, the girl who lip-synced is getting all this fame and making headlines when she didn’t even really do anything but stand there moving her mouth. The little girl who did the actual singing was said to have the “most beautiful voice.”
