Are you financially stable? Well I know I’m definitely not. I took this BillsIQ quiz over at www.bills.com/iq and I scored pretty low. I actually got a D! My score is 60%. They asked questions regarding credit, debt, budget, wealth, and life plan. I obviously am not very well informed about my credit and how it is going to affect my future or my family’s future. I’ve been considering Debt consolidation to help get my debts in order and get my credit score back on track. I think that consolidating my debts and creating a plan and a goal as to when I’ll have them all taken care of is the only way I’m going to get my finances in order. I really don’t even know what my credit score is right now, and that’s also a problem. If I don’t understand the basics of keeping my credit in order, how am I going to be able to do so? I definitely need to learn how to save money better. No one really wants to be in debt, do they? I think since I took that test and it was so low, I’m going to get a free quote from Bills.Com and see what my options are. I have to prepare for my future. I’m curious as to how others did on the BillsIQ quiz. If you take the quiz, share your results by commenting below so we can compare!

My kiddo really loves Youtube. I don’t mind him watching it a little bit as long as I’m able to closely monitor what he’s watching, but I think he’s been “youtubing” just a little too much. I’m going to put a limit on how long he can spend online and in particular how long he can watch youtube. I’m really not happy with youtube anyway. I have it set so that he can’t view certain stuff, but sometimes things get passed me. He basically only watches videos related to things like Legend Of Zelda, and stuff like that. That’s been his favorite lately, anyway. In particular there’s this one group of videos created by one guy and basically all he does is record himself playing Zelda and then add a narrative to it. The problem is, some of the things he says are things I don’t really think my son needs to be hearing. It’s hard because I have to explain to Eric that the things the guy says are inappropriate, but then he is curious as to why they are inappropriate. He’s 8 years old, but he’s still pretty naive about stuff like that and that’s the way I want to keep him. I don’t want him to be overly “sheltered” but I don’t want him to be knowledgeable of certain things just yet. I’d like to keep him innocent for as long as I possibly can.
Anyway, with that in mind, I’m going to have a talk with the boyfriend tonight about getting him some more educational software. He’s had some before but basically he’s mastered it, and needs more challenging stuff. I’m glad that he’s computer literate, and I’m also glad that he’s able to type and maneuver about online with ease, but I’d like him to use his computer for things that will help him increase his brain power and thought processes, and not for youtube.

Being a single mom, I feel that personal safety is a very important issue. There are times when I have to go to the store late at night, or go shopping alone, and I personally feel you can never be too safe these days. Around Christmas time is actually one of the worst, too, because there are so many thieves about just lurking and waiting to rob you or harm you. They target older people and women. With that in mind, I’ve been considering buying some sort of security product for my car and my person that I feel would help protect me in one of those situations where I’d need to protect myself. What I think I’d prefer to get is something like The Firefly Stun Gun. Granted, it’s no M18 Taser, but it’s small enough that I could carry it in the palm of my hand so that it wouldn’t actually be seen nor expected. At 650,000 volts, it’s a pretty powerful stun gun. It comes with a holster, a safety button, and breakaway key release. My favorite feature other than the power is actually the key chain pepper spray that comes with it. So not only do you get the protection of the stun gun, but you get pepper spray as well. I’ve personally never used pepper spray but I’ve been told it’s pretty painful and effective when trying to ward off an attacker.
What if you are a single mom who works nights? Just imagine being alone in a dark parking lot after work and some weirdo coming up to you and trying to attack you or rob you? Wouldn’t it be awesome if you had the protection of a stun gun? Zap the attacker with the stun gun, then spray pepper spray in his face! That should give you an opportunity to escape. He wouldn’t even be expecting that!

As I said previously, my kiddo had his first Mini Gourmet cooking class at the community center yesterday. They all made pizza pockets. He was so proud of himself, and he saved me one of the pizza pockets he made so I could taste it. When I picked him up he was going on and on about how much fun he had, and how he got to do everything himself. I must admit, the pizza pocket was delicious and I was quite impressed. He said he would type out the recipe for me and print it out. When he does I’ll throw it up here for anyone who’s interested.

So last night we also watched The Spiderwick Chronicles. I’m usually not a fan of movies like that.. I’m not into the whole fantasy thing. Fairies, trolls, and goblin movies usually don’t interest me at all and I almost always find them to be incredibly cheesey. However, this movie was really good. I liked it alot, actually, and I know Eric did too. It’s kind of gross at times, what with goblins and green ooze for blood and all that mess. There was really only one part I found to be a bit cheesey and that was at the end. I won’t say what it was, but I’m sure anyone who watches it or has seen it will know what I’m talking about.
