As I’ve said time and time again, I am a proud subscriber to the Steve Spangler science eNewsletter. This week in my email is an “experiment” on gardening with water jelly crystals. Using these water jelly crystals helps conserve water, which in today’s world is an important issue. The real name for these crystals is polyacrylamide copolymer gel, and is non-toxic. The crystals are sold under the trade name of Hydrosource and Soil Moist. One pound of Hydrosource will absorb up to 35 gallons of rainwater or snowmelt, and 20-25 gallons of tap water, depending on it’s salt content. Anyways, I could go on and on, but I’ll just link you so that you can check it out for yourself. If you are interested in gardening or conserving water, or just want to check out some of the cool experiments then feel free. There are several different experiments that you can try with this stuff, but since we haven’t actually done any yet, I’m not going to post them up. If anyone uses these or has tried any of these experiments at home, comment and let me know how you like them. I’d really like to know. The Video and Experiments with the Water Jelly Crystals is here. Check it out. ![]()

Wow that sounds really interesting!
It is very interesting, actually. Even though the water crystals kinda feel gross. lol.
How neat! These crystals sound like a really neato invention/discovery.
They are! And they help conserve water, too.
