What’s Wrong With Rice?

Well, I know I said I felt like watching HGTV, but it kind of got boring. I used to like this Divine Design show, but I’ve lost interest in it for some reason. Oh well.

I was sitting here thinking about a conversation I had with my mother while I was at her house earlier, and I was wondering something. See, my son will not eat rice of any kind. He absolutely refuses. I was telling my mom about this, and she said when I was a child I would not eat rice either. She told me it’s because I thought it looked like little bugs or worms or something? I don’t know.. but I’ve tried everything I possibly can to get my son to eat rice. I’ve made flavored rice, whole grain, wild, fried, and plain white rice.. and he will not touch it. He will also not eat anything that has rice in it. Even if one little piece of rice gets in his food or touches it, he wants nothing to do with it. So this brings me to what I was wondering. Are a lot of children like that? Do other parents have such a hard time getting their child to eat rice? And what is their kid’s reasons for not eating it? Just curious. If you have kids or younger sisters/brothers, or you yourself will not eat rice, HOW COME?!

I love rice, but ever since I had been pregnant, it makes me sick! Grayson used to eat a small amount of rice, but we haven’t tried it here lately.

Chris ended up being out of town for two days, and I pretty much hung out with his brother and his wife, but it’s lame always being with family, y’know?

Becky, I’m sorry it’s taken me this long to reply to comments. I’ve been super busy.

Let me tell you something you might find funny. When I was pregnant, I craved spaghetti, taco bell, and chili dogs CONSTANTLY. When my son was little, he didn’t really like those types of foods. Now, however, those 3 are his very favorite in the world. Isn’t that strange? Maybe Grayson will grow up and not like rice because it made you sick when you were pregnant. Who knows. lol.

It is lame when the person you want to be with the most is not around. Having to chill with family is ok sometimes, but it’s also kind of a pain in the butt at times.

I don’t think that I’ve ever tried giving rice to my daughter, but she’s only two years old and will eat anything thats put in front of her so I’m not sure if we would have a problem with that or not lol.

You know, when my little one was about 2 and up until he was about 5, he would not eat ANYTHING that I gave him unless it came directly off of my own plate. If I wanted him to eat something I’d have to give him an empty plate or bowl, and then serve him off of my own plate or bowl. Kids are so funny.

At least your little girl is eating. Two year olds can be so picky sometimes.

I don’t think you need to worry that your son doesn’t like rice. Some kids just don’t like certain foods, and often grow up to like them, or at least tolerate them. *lol* I doubt he’ll miss out on anything by not eating rice. I don’t know, it just seems like a small thing to worry about.

It’ll be okay. :)

Well Irene, I’m not so much worried about it as curious is all. See, we live alone, he and I, and I LOVE rice, but since he doesn’t eat it I rarely ever make it because then it would end up going to waste. I mean you act like it’s causing me to lose sleep at night. LOL

That is really interesting, but then again kids are picky eaters. I, myself, love rice - especially the brown and wild varieties. =)

I’m a girl that loves fried rice. White rice gets boring to me after a while.

I think that’s kinda funny. I hated tons of things when I was a kid that I don’t mind now, some things I still don’t eat. But it’s cute that you didn’t like it either and grew out of that, and maybe he will too. Kids are pretty stubborn with their anti-food ways.

Why don’t you try bringing him to the doctor for a check-up? I guess there’s a disease/virus or whatever sickness involving the situation your kid currently has. Like you see rice as bugs or cockroaches, lol. I’m not saying he has this disease and forcing you to do but you may want to go for it.

And one thing, some kids actually are picky for the foods they eat. Your kid must be really is.

Btw, miss Angela! Can I be part of your link exchange/Blogroll please? I just added your site on mine. Hit me back please. Thank you! :)
