Since Eric wants to get involved in martial arts this year, I have to come up with the money to buy him a uniform and some other stuff he’ll need. It’s kind of pricey, so I am considering having a little fundraiser of sorts to raise the money for his uniform and supplies. There are several different ways to raise money, but I am considering fundraising car magnets because not only is it a good way to raise some money, but it’s also good marketing and advertising. I mean if I sell each magnet for about five dollars I could raise enough money to get his martial arts uniform and supplies in no time at all.
My step-dad is really into boxing. He keeps going on and on about how Oscar De La Hoya is looking towards a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr sometime in September. He said he wants to take Eric, but it’ll be just too far away for me to allow it. De La Hoya’s promotion company said they have finalized everything and the fight is going to take place on September 20 and on HBO pay-per-view. My step-dad is so stoked, seriously. If he’s not able to get Mayweather vs De La Hoya tickets he will probably freak out. He and his brother are actually planning on going, but the fight is being held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. I’m not sure where he thinks he’s going to get the money for this trip, but his brother is kind of wealthy so he’ll probably end up flipping the bill. They better get their tickets quick, especially if they want to get close up to the ring. One of the most interesting factors in this whole thing is that Floyd Mayweather Jr’s father, Floyd Mayweather Sr, has actually been De La Hoya’s trainer since 2001. My step-dad keeps saying he wants Eric to go, but I’m not letting my son go all the way to Vegas.
