Planning For Summer

The kiddo went on a field trip Thursday to the Houston Museum of Natural Science. He came home so excited to tell me all about what he saw and learned. I love it when he gets that excited about learning. lol. They also got to see a movie at the IMax Theater. He said he got scared because it was 3D, and he thought a dinosaur was going to eat him. Too cute.

I’ve been planning my son’s summer activities, and I think I’ve just about got it worked out. My son’s grandfather was awesome enough to send me some money for his Summer Day Camp, and some other activities. He’s going to a Nature Day Camp, where he gets to visit the nature park, the outdoor learning center, and a few other places like that. I also signed him up for a children’s cooking class. It’s 2 hours a day, one day a week. I also signed him up for a science thing because science is his favorite subject. That one is 1 hour a day, one day a week also. I wanted to find things that he would enjoy, but that also would keep him busy. I love the city I live in and the school district, they are really big on children’s activities and family functions.

Anyone got any other ideas for the summer?

Wow you’ve signed him up for some awesome stuff! I’ve never been to that museum, but I want to go. Museums are fun.

When I was young my parents enrolled me in this summer program called KIVS. It was the local volunteering programs for kids in the summer. It was like one Every Saturday for 6 or 8 weeks.

We did things like paint garbage cans in the park, put kits together at hospitals. Maybe your local volunteering place has something similar.

You could also check out your Local YMCA and see what activities they have there for kids. Or you could always take him to the Boys & Girls Club.

thats so lovely of you to sign him up for all those things! He’ll get loads out of it, thats for sure! I always did a sports week thing, we’re we tried different sports and we did crafts as well. I live in England though, but there might be something like it where you live!

Hi there!

I am so glad to hear that your son enjoyed his trip to our Museum. Seeing kids get excited about science always brightens my day, too. :)

All the museums down here have great summer camps – and Hermann Park is always a great option for summer fun. They just renovated the mini-train that runs around the park – it’s a lot of fun for kids.

I hope you and your family have a great summer!

Erin
