Homemade Playdoh

My son is having a friend sleep over, and he’s been here since about 1 p.m today. They’ve played outside, played video games, watched a movie, and played with my son’s k’nex. They seemed to be out of ideas. So I thought they might enjoy making some homemade playdoh to keep them occupied. Then of course being me, I thought I’d share the idea with my readers. (Yes, all 2 of you). So here ya go.

(it requires ALOT of salt)

1/4 cup of salt
1 cup of flour
about 1/4 cup of water

Let the kid(s) mix the flour and salt in a bowl and then add the water. Let them knead and squeeze and squish the dough to make a clay-like consistency. You may need to add more water, but I never do. And voila, you have homemade playdoh.

You can add food coloring, but be careful about staining clothes and what not. This form of dough doesn’t last a long time but it’ll last about a month or so. It’s more for immediate play than long term. It gives he kids something fun to do and something fun to play with.

If you’ve got any fun ideas like this, email me or leave a comment. I’d love to hear about them. :)

That actually sounds like a good idea, I want to make homemade clay and bake it into beads. :) It sounds like something quick and easy!

I used to love doing stuff like that when I was younger :)
