Homemade Playdoh

My son is having a friend sleep over, and he’s been here since about 1 p.m today. They’ve played outside, played video games, watched a movie, and played with my son’s k’nex. They seemed to be out of ideas. So I thought they might enjoy making some homemade playdoh to keep them occupied. Then of course being me, I thought I’d share the idea with my readers. (Yes, all 2 of you). So here ya go.

(it requires ALOT of salt)

1/4 cup of salt
1 cup of flour
about 1/4 cup of water

Let the kid(s) mix the flour and salt in a bowl and then add the water. Let them knead and squeeze and squish the dough to make a clay-like consistency. You may need to add more water, but I never do. And voila, you have homemade playdoh.

You can add food coloring, but be careful about staining clothes and what not. This form of dough doesn’t last a long time but it’ll last about a month or so. It’s more for immediate play than long term. It gives he kids something fun to do and something fun to play with.

If you’ve got any fun ideas like this, email me or leave a comment. I’d love to hear about them. :)

I Love My Aunt

My aunt called me today. She may have finally found a house. For those of you who don’t know, my aunt’s home was ruined by a flood some time ago and FEMA gave her some money and all, but it wasn’t alot, and slowly dwindled away before she was able to find a home. So she called to tell me she found a house and is currently trying to get a loan. The thing is she’s running into a few problems. The house she wants is small, and out in the middle of nowhere, and it’s only $35,000. Most lenders are telling her they don’t want to finance a home for any less than $70,000. This makes no sense to me, but whatever. They suggested that she try to get a Personal Loan instead. I don’t get that, but she decided to look around and apply for a loan. The other problem though, is she has kind of bad credit, so she has to find a company that handles Bad Credit Personal Loans. She said she found a company that will help her get a loan even with her poor credit. I really hope it works out, though. She’s currently living in a travel trailer with her husband and granddaughter. It’s so tiny.

Yay For Grandparents!

My son is going to Summer Day Camp. I was hoping that he’d get to go, but it’s $169.00 just for one week, so I wasn’t sure. Today I asked his grandfather (my ex’s dad) if he’d help pay for it and he said he would pay for the entire thing. I wasn’t expecting it.. well I kinda was, but still it’s nice. He’s always been there for Eric when he needs something. I know I can always count on him to help out when it comes to stuff like that. I guess it’s some consolation for the fact that he doesn’t have a dad. Heh. I’m really happy, though, I was hoping he’d get to go! I usually wouldn’t have any trouble coming up with the money, but with a recent vehicle purchase, and having to buy a new television cause mine totally went out, money’s a little tight for a little while. Anyway, I am hoping he gets to go visit with his grandfather this summer. He went a few summer’s back but last summer they had a huge flood and lost their home, and are still in the process of getting all that taken care of. If everything works out, though, he’ll get to go to Corpus for a couple of weeks. One can only hope. :)
