If you read my blog regularly you know that lately I’ve been mulling over what to get my mom for Mother’s Day and what to get my step-dad for Father’s Day. Well the other day while I was visiting my mom I overheard my step-dad on the phone with his brother. He was talking about National Finals Rodeo, and how he’d really like to go this year. National Finals Rodeo, or NFR for short, is held in Las Vegas the first week of December. My mom has said time and time again how she would love to go to Las Vegas again, and my step-dad has been a big fan of NFR for as long as I can remember. He’s been to a few of the events in Vegas, but it’s been awhile. So I decided that it might be nice to get them both National Final Rodeo tickets for Mother’s and Father’s Day. My step-dad would be so thrilled. NFR is really a special event to some people, too. It’s organized by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and is sometimes called the Super Bowl of Rodeo. Also, my mom would get to go to Cowboy Christmas while they are in Vegas, too. It’s a cowboy gift show that is held the same week as NFR, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. I haven’t ever really ever gotten them a gift like this so I bet they’d really love it. My step-dad’s been talking about NFR forever now. His favorite events are steer wrestling and bull riding. I think deep down he’s got this secret dream of becoming a cowboy, seriously. He’s really into the rodeo. They will just love their little mini vacation. I know. I’m so nice.

So awhile back we had a lightning storm, and since I’m retarded I didn’t have my son’s computer hooked up to a surge protector. Needless to say, the system was toast. So, being that he’s 8 years old I didn’t wanna spend a ton of money on a computer for him because let’s face it, he might mess it up. I mean, he’s a really intelligent kid, and he knows his way around a computer pretty well, but he is a kid. So my boyfriend was nice enough to buy him a refurbished computer off buy.com. We didn’t tell Eric so that he would be surprised. He was surprised, alright. This computer arrives yesterday, and tonight we set it up.. and guess what? First the mouse doesn’t work.. so I hook up my mouse to it and it still doesn’t work. Then the keyboard stops working. A moment later the monitor says “no signal”. What a piece of junk. Now I can’t get it working so we try to contact Buy.com. They say “under no circumstances will we be able to process a return on this item, you must go through the manufacturer.” UH WHAT? So we called Acer. I guess we should have known better than to get an Acer. They say they will repair it if we pay shipping. WE JUST PAID SHIPPING TO GET IT THE DAY BEFORE? I’m about to email Buy.Com and get ugly.
[end rant]

Design Diva Fabrics, the home to some of the most luxurious designer upholstery fabric, is having a really cool promotion. They are having what they call a Vote Up Countdown. How it works is anyone with an account at DesignDivaFabrics.Com can log in and vote up any fabric that they like. You can for as many different fabrics as you like. The fabric that gets the most votes then goes into a “count down” and every second that passes, the fabric’s price decreases. The count down stops when someone purchases the fabric. The fabric with the next highest amount of votes then goes into count down mode and so on. If you do vote on a fabric, you will receive an email when that fabric goes into count down mode. It’s as simple as that.
