Cereal Box Puzzles - Trash To Treasure

Here’s yet another fun Trash to Treasure project you could try with your kid(s). All you need is an empty cereal box.

1. Cut one of the large panels off of a cereal box. (front or back) - If your child is doing the cutting make sure he or she uses safety scissors.

2. Draw lines on the back side of the panel. You will use these guidelines to cut out your puzzle. Draw any kinds of lines, curvy or straight. Don’t make it too complicated because then it will be too hard to cut.

3. Cut along the lines you drew. Mix up the pieces and you now have your own cereal box puzzle to put together.

Try this:

Make two puzzles and have your kids race each other to see who can put their puzzles together fastest.

Make double-sided puzzles by gluing two cereal box panels together and then cutting the pieces.

Make puzzles out of other types of boxes, or old photographs.

Have fun!

Would your dad like a paintball gun for Father’s Day?

Two summers ago my son went visit his grandfather and uncle in Corpus Christi and when he came back he was going on and on about wanting a paintball gun. I thought the idea absurd for a six year old, but maybe when he’s a bit older I’d consider getting him a paintball gun. I researched online to see if I could find cheap paintball guns that were age appropriate, but I think perhaps he’s a bit young still. I am considering however, getting my step-dad one for Father’s Day. He’s a kid at heart, and I think he’d actually really like one. I found a store online that offers discount paintball guns and accessories with free shipping. I love free shipping! I’m going to run the idea by my mom and have her go look at The Ultimate Paintball Store online and see if thinks my step-dad might like something from there. Maybe in a few more years my son and my stepdad could go to one of those paintball parks and shoot at each other. Haha.

Cleaning the kiddo’s room.. ugh.

My son’s room was a big fat mess. I mean, it’s been messy before, but this was the worst it’s ever been. I guess now I see why my mom always yelled at me about my room. Mine got pretty bad at his age and it used to make her so angry. I couldn’t understand why she cared so much back then, but now I do.

We took some of his old clothes to the donation box. I’m sure someone could put them to good use. Children grow so fast. LOL. I have a few old toys and some mega blox that he doesn’t play with anymore that I’m gonna throw up on Craigslist for about $20.00. I’m also going to be selling his old books. I have so many of them, and most are in good shape. So I’m going to make a special section on this site and put them up there. I normally would just donate them, but I’m going to use the money I make off the old books (if any) to buy him more books. We’ll see how that goes.

I’m off to watch a movie with the boyfriend and eat some ice cream cake. :)
